Shawna Alberts Wood

Marital Status: Married 17 years to Woody Wood
Children: 2 children.  Kyllian 15 sophomore at Thurston High & Chloe 11
Pursuits in '87: Everything that I could be:  Volleyball, basketball, planning college at OSU.
Life Now: I have been married since September 2, 1989.  We lead a very busy life.  My son Kyllian just finished his freshman year at Thurston High School.  He is 6’ 5” and played football, basketball, and track.  He does 3 sports at a time sometimes and is a very outgoing and witty kid.  We don’t miss any of their games.  Chloe just finished 5th grade and she plays volleyball and basketball.  She is a great student and kind of shy (who’s kid is she?)  I am an Escrow officer at Western Titles & Escrow.  I have been working there for 5 years.  *My favorite real estate agent is Kristen Salladay*

Gina (Autry) Brown

Marital Status: Married
Children: 2 - My son will turn 15 during the reunion  and my daughter is 11.
Pursuits in '87: I went into the military in 1987.  I served 3 years in Panama and was a part             of the Panamanian war.  That was quite frightening at times.  I met my husband who was also from Oregon and found out we were both born in the same hospital in a small town in Southern Oregon.  We’ve been married for 18 years.
Life Now: I work at Sacred Heart and when I’m not working I am taking kids to their activities.  We love to travel; we just got back from Ireland last May.

Marital Status:
Married
Children: First child due in February, '08.
Comments:  I will be returning to London on August 11th, so I will be unable to attend the reunion.  I would love to catch up with old friends and/or offer travel advice to anyone planning a trip to the UK.
Pursuits in '87: Judging by my senior photo big hair and purple eye makeup were very important.  I was also involved in cheerleading and tennis.  After high school I planned to go to WOSC to become a teacher.
Life Now: Life is good.  I have been teaching for 16 years (mostly grades 5 and 6).  One month after our wedding last May, my husband and I moved to England where I am currently teaching 3rd grade at the American School in London.  We have enjoyed living abroad and plan to stay one more year before moving back to Portland.  We enjoy life in the city and traveling.  Some recent trips include Thailand, Ireland, and Italy.  Dave and I are thrilled to be expecting our first child in February.  Better late than never!

Marrital Status:
Not married
Pursuits in '87:  I was on the tennis team for 4 years and I am looking forward to catching up with my former teammates.  I had a lot of friends in the class of 88 and who also attended other schools.  My fondest memories were of the Memorial Building dances in Springfield and all those great 80’s tunes.  In 1987 my biggest goal was to travel and live someplace other than Springfield.
Life Now:  I moved to Seattle after graduating and briefly pursued a degree in journalism before moving to Melbourne, Australia in 1993, where I lived for three years.  I really enjoy being single, but I have a boyfriend, Brian whom I have shared three wonderful years with.  We are huge baseball fans and love to travel.  After I returned from Australia I started working in the financial services industry and for the past 10 years I have worked for a small, family-owned financial planning firm in Beaverton, OR as a financial planner.  I spend as much time as possible with my family. My Dad still lives in Springfield (in the house I grew up in) and my Mom lives in Seattle. My best friend (for 30 years) and THS classmate, Debbie Hygelund (Case) and I are looking forward to coming to the reunion together.

Comments:  Has it really been 20 years???  We are looking forward to catching up with our friends and classmates and appreciate the work to organize and bring us all back together.  I have enjoyed the "Then and Now" of the website.  We are all so diverse and have achieved so much...whether it is raising families, building careers, overcoming the challenges life brings...Why did we have to grow up anyway???

Stacie (Gardner) Sisk

Marital Status: Married to Hank Sisk since 11/04
Children: 3 Daughters ~ Alex, 13, Marissa, 7 and
Haley, 6
Comments: I am looking forward to seeing everyone.  I hope the last 20 years have brought you all joy. I am
hoping to reconnect and stay in touch. Life has a way
of getting away from us.
Pursuits in '87: I was on the Varsity Softball team and worked in a bakery.  My hope was to be married have children and be a stay at home mom.
To this day I think I have only missed one season of softball and at times have played on 4 or 5 teams in one season.  I am a wife and mom but I also have a wonderful career.  I am the sales manager for Pacific Northwest Title of Lane County.  I have been in the title and escrow industry for about six years now.  I truly love my job!  I have also done many TV commercials and modeling events over the years as a hobby.  I did something I never thought I would do and that was run for Mrs. Oregon United States in 2002.  I made 1st Runner up.
Life Now: Well between getting the girls off to all their sporting events and church activities, my husband and I coach 1st and 2nd graders soccer twice a year.  Hank and I also play softball together.  (That is how we met by the way.)  We work on our home in Cottage Grove and both work full time. Hank is TV producer.
One big thing we deal with every day is cancer. When Hank and started dating I knew he had cancer and had already beat the 6 months of life they had given him. It was during his healing time we fell in love. We married while Hank was doing his second cycle of chemotherapy. Through that next year his cancer stabilized. It wouldn’t go into remission but it had stopped growing. Things were looking up, then tragedy hit again. January 2006 I learned that I was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive breast cancer. After four surgeries in the month of March they finally removed all the cancer. I then underwent a six-month cycle of chemotherapy and then three months of daily radiation treatments. I have but, two hercepton chemo treatments left to do and I should be done by July 2007. This is a drug that I have had to do every three weeks for about one year. Only to begin a series of reconstruction surgeries this July.
Hank has begun his third cycle of chemotherapy and won’t finish until around October. Needless to say we spent a lot of our time in doctors offices.
We celebrate every day of our lives together.  Although so much heartache has come from each of us enduring cancer, there have been such great blessings. We trust that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. For better or for worse, we are so grateful to have each other.

Marrital Status:
Married
Children: 2 girls, 3 year old and 5 month old
Comments:  I’ll really miss seeing you at the reunion. Have a fantastic time.
Pursuits in '87: I was heavily involved in music, both at and outside of school. I don’t remember for sure what I wanted to pursue…something like a nanny overseas?? I had two cousins doing that – seeing the world all expenses paid with a salary. (It still sounds good!)
Life Now: I love our little circus! I’m nearly always sleep-deprived and smelling of spit-up. Our girls are pure joy. Rob and I live on a small farm west of Eugene. We currently have two steers, two hogs, a mostly dead horse and a gray-muzzled Rottweiler (our first child). Since it’s produce season, the canner lives on the stove and we are busy, busy, busy (and did I mention tired?). I’m looking forward to being home this Fall. I have taken a leave of absence from my teaching job. I expect to return to 4j Fall of 2008. My job description at that point is “pot-luck.” I have done second and third grade, reading and was teaching kindergarten when I left. I’ll be finishing my reading endorsement before I return, so I may go back to “reading teacher.” I’d like to stay part-time for a few years, and that’s a good way to do it.

Marrital Status:
Married 8 years
Children: 2 girls, boy on the way around August 1, 2007
Comments:  Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend due to the arrival or our son.  He will be but a few days old during the reunion.   It’s been 20-years now.  Many of us are in the prime-of-our lives and I wish all of you well and good fortune. I look forward to the next reunion, that’s a date I will pencil in for sure.
Pursuits in '87: Many of you knew my mom Lucy drove school bus and my dad Larry a mechanic at Red’s automotive.  Life was very, very simple in 87.  I played a few sports (Soccer and Volleyball) skated by in class and did most everything “the guys” did.  Family and life in Springfield was comfortably simple.  So simple, that I had no real ambitions at graduation.  But all that comfort changed the day Anthony (Rog) Rogers and I left for the Army.
Life Now: In contrast to that simple life and lacking ambition…I look at what life still has to deliver emotionally, spiritually, financially and intellectually. Today I know what makes me happy, makes me proud, and makes me want to excel at everything I do and touch.  I have a family that trusts and believes in me and in everything I do. I am highly respected and trusted in my industry and recognized financially for the work I do.  Yes, life is no longer as simple or “Spingfield-comfortable” but this is my life in the today and now, and I wouldn’t trade it for the World.

Pursuits in '87: I was on the Cheerleading team for three years and was one of three vice presidents our senior year. I was involved with student government though our high school. Sadly, I graduated not really knowing what I wanted to do with my life except continue to drag race. I was always interested in working with children, but did not pursue it!

Children:   2 – twin 7 year old girls
Pursuits in '87: Pursue?? the next party…I never got into sports, just worked a lot to put gas into the Camero and go riding my ATV’s at the coast!
Life Now: Great, having kids was the best thing that happened to me; it helped slow me down!  Just this year I got a clear driving record for the first time since I was 16.  I’ve been working for Weyerhaeuser in Springfield since 1990.  I used to do a lot of waterskiing, but got tired of the crowd.  I bought a sled boat and spend most of my time on the McKenzie and Willamette Rivers.  I love fishing the Columbia for Sturgeon and the ocean for Halibut and Salmon.  My new passion is running the whitewater of the Rogue and Snake rivers.  There’s nothing better than camping on the beaches of the Snake River with my family and other jetboaters…and yes I’ll I still have my Camero from high school, maybe someday I will get around to re-storing it!

Single, but in love, TJ Drews
Children:  3 - Zachary (10) Quintin (7) Drew (7)
Comments:  I look forward to seeing all my old friends at our 20 year reunion.  Yes, Kristen Salladay is my favorite real estate agent as well.
Pursuits in '87:  Upon graduating 20 years ago I had no idea what I wanted to do or what I wanted to become.  I knew one thing….I wanted to be successful.  I used to think that success was measured by how many material things you owned or how much money you had in the bank.  I know today that it is not.  Success is knowing your purpose in life and growing to your maximum potential.
Life Now:  I manage a large medical clinic in Santa Clara where I am challenged on a daily basis to juggle the needs of patients, staff and sometimes cranky physicians.  I love my job. Today I am a mother to two incredible boys and one future step son who are unique in their own way and bring joy to my life with each smile.  Zachary is in the 5th grade.  He loves video games and most of all his mother.  Quintin is in the 2nd grade and loves riding his bike with no hands, snakes and girls.  Quite the lady killer.  Both my boys attend Buena Vista Spanish Immersion School.  They spend their entire day learning in Spanish.  Makes homework quite challenging for me.  All I know how to do is ask for a margarita and a bathroom.  I met the love of my life TJ Drews in the line at the movie theaters at a time when I had just about given up.  His son, Drew is in the 2nd grade too.  He loves his father and anything Star Wars.  I am surrounded by men.  TJ has showed me more kindness, understanding than I have ever dreamt imaginable.  He has taught me a patience that I never knew I had.  Knowing him has made me a better person.  The combination of these elements is a perfect example of success that is immeasurable.

Comments:  Living in Alaska means we have to  budget our trips to the “Outside” and unfortunately I’m not able to add another one to attend the reunion this year. I’ll really miss being there and see all those familiar faces, though I’ve been searching for any news on Kim Dougherty, Jason Lee and Ed Lewis.  If anyone has any info, pls email me.  Can’t wait to check the website for updates!
Pursuits in '87:  I ran track and cross-country and was involved with the school newspaper.
Life Now: After high school graduation I traveled to Yellowstone National Park where I met my now husband, Tim. He went into the Air Force and I graduated from the University of Oregon - Go Ducks!! I then moved to Montana to be with my future husband.  We were married in 1995, had 3 children and moved to Colorado for my husband’s work in the GIS field.  We live there for a year before heading up North to Alaska in 2005 and have loved every minute of it. I work at The Home Depot as an Inventory Management Associate where I work crazy hours (4 am) but am able to be home with my kids after school and be involved with their activities - scouts, soccer, basketball, dance, you name it!! Our hearts are really back in Montana (Seeley Lake area) and we plan to move back there when my husband retires from the Air National Guard. We love to camp, fish, hike, snow machine, 3-wheel and pretty much anything else that involves the great outdoors. I also love to photograph and scrapbook all our family’s activities, achievements and every day events

Children: 2 boys ages 6 and 3
Comments:  I am a preschool/kindergarten teacher hoping to work for Head Start or the school district beginning in the fall (just had interviews for both!). We moved from the Springfield are a year ½ ago and now live in Sweet Home, Ore.
Pursuits in '87: I really had no idea what I wanted to do with my life at that time. I knew I wanted to travel and move out of state. I moved to So. California at 20 and lived there for 9 years and had a wonderful time. It was an intense place for me to “grow up” and I would not change that experience for anything.
Life Now: I love being a mom and hanging out with my family. We like to go out to the lake and camp and spend time together playing outdoors. Working with young children has become such a big part of my life. I am truly passionate about early childhood education. My husband George is my best friend and the love of my life. He is Acting Postmaster here in Sweet Home, works very hard and has a laugh that is contagious! My life has been blessed and I am happy. I hope that you have all found happiness too.

Comments:  I am very sorry that I won't be able to see you all at the reunion. Unfortunately, I had already planned a camping trip with my clients. This is a yearly trip I started with them last year. It is my project so I can't cancel or pass it off to someone else. They have been looking forward to it all year.
Pursuits in '87: My senior year, my family had moved to the coast. I decided I wanted to graduate at Thurston so I stayed. I was living on my own, working two jobs and going to school full time so I didn't have time for extracurricular activities. I really don't think I knew what I wanted to do after graduating. I was already in the work force. I planned to take a year off and go back. Things don't always turn out how we plan do they?
Life Now: I am a single mother of two daughters. Heaven Leigh is 14 and getting ready to start High School. She was accepted into Springfield's new charter high school "The Academy of Arts and Academics." My youngest, Stormy Skye is 7 years old. She came to me as a foster child in December of 2005. I adopted her April 27th of this year. I currently work at Oregon Supported Living Program as an Assistant Director in our Independent Living Program. I work with developmentally disabled adults who live in their own homes and assist them in their daily needs. I have been with this job for 12 years, previously working in our group homes as direct care staff as well as Program Manager. In fall of 2005 I went back to college at Lane Community College while still working full time. If that didn't leave my life busy enough I also coach for Kidsports (baseball, soccer and basketball). I enjoy camping with my family. In 1998, I was baptized as a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Prior to January, I was teaching 3 and 4 year olds (sunbeam class) there for about 5 years.

Marital Status:
Married
Children: a 10 year old Son and a 13 year old daughter
Comments:  Life is short, expect the unexpected and never give up.
Pursuits in '87: I was interested in technology and knew that I wanted to do something in the computer software industry.
Life Now: I am happily married and just celebrated my 16th anniversary.  I have a successful career in the software industry and have managed to survive the many ups and downs of the effects of the economy on the industry.  I live in the Portland area and work for a banking software company.  I have been fortunate to be able to support my family and allow my wife to be a stay at home mom and raise our children. 3 years ago, our daughter was diagnosed with a very rare progressive genetic disorder.  We are very lucky that it was caught early and as a result she is able to lead a completely normal life.  Due to many circumstances surrounding the treatment, the rarity, and lack of overall knowledge in the medical field about this disorder, my wife and I have spent the last 3 years spearheading numerous efforts in the US regarding this disorder.  Some of these efforts include becoming board members of an organization in Illinois called the United Leukodystrophy Foundation(ULF), building a US based network of families and patients, and with the help of the ULF sponsoring meetings and bringing doctors to Illinois from around the world to talk about this disorder.  We also recently filmed an episode for a television show on the Discovery Health channel called Mystery Diagnosis about this disorder.  We have also garnered interest in a research program for newborn screening of this disorder and will help to drive this forward over the next several years working with researchers from OHSU.  All of this along with raising a family and working a full time job keeps me quite busy.
